Mainframe Support Developer
UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Mainframe Support Developer for a remote position. Candidates in the EST time zone and those with an active LinkedIn account are preferred.
Position: The Mainframe Support Developer will work collaboratively with a team to review and analyze current system feature sets, establish strategic development plans, and implement solutions to enhance application functionality. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with mainframe systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with business users and stakeholders.

SCOPE OF SERVICES:
As a Mainframe Support Developer, your responsibilities include:
Reviewing and analyzing current feature sets with the team to identify development strategies.
Collaborating with the team lead to prioritize tasks.
Participating in system analysis, system design, and requirements sessions as needed.
Providing solutions to enhance application functionality using various tools.
Troubleshooting and fixing bugs to provide support and maintenance.
Working with business users and key stakeholders to develop functionality based on specified requirements and design changes.
Gathering best practices and insights from the project team to improve methodologies and user experiences.
Conducting user research to uncover critical insights.
Delivering operational support and requested features, while conducting testing to ensure optimal performance.
Participating in daily, weekly, and ad hoc meetings as required.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on development experience in Mainframe, ADABAS/NATURAL, JCL, TSO, and Utilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, and dynamic thinker.
Detailed technical understanding of data and database design.
Experience developing ad-hoc reports, extracts, and processes using ADABAS/NATURAL and JCL.
Full software lifecycle experience from requirements through implementation and production support.
Proven experience developing functional and technical design documents from business requirements.
At least 5 years of technical experience in mainframe applications customization and support.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Experience in system and data mapping and conversion.
Familiarity with COBOL, SAS, REXX, CRM, .NET, or related technologies.
