The Public Safety Emergency Communications Senior Engineer will report to the Director of Emergency Communications as part of the Public Safety and Emergency Management division. This role is critical for providing engineering oversight and support for NYC's 911 and emergency response services, ensuring uninterrupted life safety support and project timelines.

SCOPE OF SERVICES:
As the Public Safety Emergency Communications Senior Engineer, your responsibilities include:
Deploying and supporting Emergency Communications network infrastructure, including racking and cabling equipment.
Configuring and testing Emergency Communications network infrastructure.
Providing technical support for E911 and NG911 telephony, telecommunications systems, and services.
Supporting Text-to-911 (TT911) services, including inbound/outbound SMS, MMS, and RTT technologies.
Overseeing vendor-managed ESInet services and systems.
Supporting Public Safety Unified Communications systems and emergency communication points.
Investigating communication, infrastructure, and service failures to determine root causes and implement remediation.
Managing 911 and TT911 test environments and validating test cases/results in the 911 lab.
Coordinating deployments with Originating Service Providers, neighboring jurisdictions, and Emergency Communication Relay Centers.
Managing Emergency Communication technology assets.
Performing data and performance analysis related to communication services.
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.
At least 12 years of experience in a data center or in the field supporting related work.
8+ years of experience in network support and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
8+ years of experience in communications routing, transport, and delivery (Wireline, Wireless, VoIP).
8+ years of experience with documentation tools (MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Word).
Substantial knowledge of networking hardware and topologies.
Substantial knowledge of telecommunication cabling standards and ability to pull/terminate cabling in various environments.
Substantial knowledge of computing systems and hardware.
Experience with LEC circuit termination and turn-up.
Experience with land-mobile-radio systems, including P25 conventional and trunked networks.
Experience with call routing, selective routing, trunking, and location-based routing.
Ability to perform physical work related to the job.
Ability to follow detailed job documentation.
Must be willing to travel within NYC to meet customer SLA’s.
Must be willing to work on-call, after hours, and weekends as required.
Strong oral, written, and presentation skills; ability to communicate confidently and clearly.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
Experience with Emergency Communications infrastructure, systems, and related technologies.
Experience with DMS and ACD systems.
Knowledge of ANI/ALI services and functionality.
Experience with 9-1-1 Call Handling Systems.
Experience with NG9-1-1 ESInet call routing.
Familiarity with SMS, RTT, TCC routing, and SMS aggregation.
Experience with third-party emergency communication system integrations.
Knowledge of GIS and location-based identification systems.
Experience with mitigating 911-related TDOS and DDOS risks.
