Position
The Public Safety Emergency Communications Senior Engineer will be responsible for deploying, supporting, and maintaining a wide range of Emergency Communications technologies. This includes infrastructure deployment, configuration, testing, vendor oversight, incident triage, and performance analysis for 911 and Text-to-911 services, as well as Next Generation 911 (NG911) systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deploy and support Emergency Communications network infrastructure, including racking and cabling
Configure and test network components for 911 and NG911 systems
Provide technical support for E911, Text-to-911 (TT911), Unified Communications, and related technologies
Support and oversee vendor-managed ESInet services
Maintain and troubleshoot alarm relays, 911 telematics, and third-party integrations
Triage communication infrastructure issues and conduct root cause analysis and remediation
Manage 911 lab test environments, validate test cases and results
Perform technology asset management for emergency communication systems
Coordinate deployments with Originating Service Providers, neighboring jurisdictions, and Emergency Communications Relay Centers
Perform data and performance analysis of communication services
Provide oversight of vendors supporting emergency communications infrastructure and services
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 12 years of experience in data center or field support environments
8+ years of experience in network support and LAN/WAN troubleshooting
8+ years supporting communications routing and transport technologies (Wireline, Wireless, VoIP)
Experience with documentation tools (Excel, Visio, Word, etc.)
Deep knowledge of networking hardware, topologies, and telecommunication cabling standards
Experience pulling and terminating cabling in various environments
Strong understanding of computing systems and hardware
Experience working with LEC circuits for termination and setup
Experience with Land-Mobile-Radio (LMR) systems, P25, trunked networks
Knowledge of call routing, selective routing, trunking, and location-based routing
Ability to perform physical work and follow detailed job documentation
Willingness to travel within NYC, and work on-call/after-hours/weekends as required
Strong oral, written, and presentation skills with clear and confident communication
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Experience with Emergency Communications infrastructure, systems, and technologies
Familiarity with DMS and ACD systems
Experience with ANI/ALI functionality and 9-1-1 Call Handling Systems
Familiarity with NG911 ESInet and location-based call routing
Experience with SMS, RTT, TCC routing, and SMS aggregation platforms
Knowledge of third-party emergency communication system integrations
Experience working with GIS/location-based systems
Understanding of TDOS and DDOS risk mitigation related to emergency communications
