UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer with a minimum of 12-years of experience to work in a hybrid position in Brooklyn, NY. Candidates with active Linkedin profiles are preferred

Position: The Senior Linux Engineer will be responsible for advanced engineering, automation, and administration of enterprise-level Linux-based systems. This includes Ansible automation, OpenShift orchestration, Infoblox DNS, and Veritas clustering technologies in support of Public Safety infrastructure.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Note: Candidates who do not meet the minimum experience requirement will not be considered.

  • Minimum 12 years of experience as a Linux Engineer

  • Ansible:

    • Proficient in creating and optimizing playbooks

    • Infrastructure deployment and integration with enterprise systems

    • Script troubleshooting and compliance enforcement

  • OpenShift:

    • Skilled in managing containerized applications and OpenShift cluster operations

    • Understanding of security, networking, multitenancy, and Kubernetes fundamentals

  • RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux):

    • Expert-level management and troubleshooting

    • Experience with patching, performance tuning, and security hardening

  • Virtualization:

    • Hands-on experience with VMware

    • VM management and virtual environment optimization

  • Infoblox DNS & Network Services:

    • Deep knowledge of DNS/DHCP/IPAM

    • Automation and enterprise-level network issue troubleshooting

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Percona (MySQL, MongoDB): Tuning, optimization, and monitoring

  • Dialogic XMS: Experience with multimedia service management and integration

  • TimeKeeper: GPS/PTP/NTP synchronization experience

  • Certificates: SSL/TLS management, PKI implementation, and secure authentication

SCOPE OF SERVICES / TASKS:

  • Engineering/admin of Veritas Cluster Server, Volume Manager, and replication tech

  • Administer OpenShift for container orchestration and workload management

  • Automate configuration using Ansible

  • Manage Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM

  • Execute UNIX performance tools for system optimization

  • Administer SUN/UNIX/Linux systems supporting Public Safety operations

  • Manage SAN storage infrastructure

  • Admin physical and virtual servers across RHEL, Solaris, and AIX

  • Support critical infrastructure tools: Oracle, MySQL, DB2, LDAP, NetIQ, VMware, etc.

  • Perform OS upgrades and patch installations

  • Develop scripts in Bash/KSH, Perl, Python

  • Provision bare metal systems and manage deployments

  • Administer tools for system deployment, maintenance, and templates
